With the weather warming up, spring in Blacksburg presents the perfect opportunity to finally get out of the house with safe, socially distanced outdoor events and festivals, outdoor activities, and more! Here are a few activities and events we are looking forward to this spring in Blacksburg;
Hiking:
Enjoy the beautiful spring foliage and flowers by taking a hike! Blacksburg offers access to countless beautiful walking paths and hiking trails for any skill level. Some of our favorite trails around Blacksburg include:
Festivals:
Sunny spring weather creates the perfect outdoor events. Uptown Christiansburg (formerly New River Valley Mall) presents the Spring Carnival from Cole Shows Amusement Company. Enjoy amusement park rides, game booths, food and fun for the whole family!
Mountain Lake’s Annual Brewridge Music Festival will take place at the Mountain Lake Lodge. Bring family and friends for an afternoon full of Bands, Beers, and Brats! Come enjoy Virginia’s best craft beer and live musical performances!
FloydFest is a 5-day music festival nestled in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwest Virginia. The event is a celebration of music & art and features over 100 performers on 8+ stages!
Kids Activities:
We’ve all been cooped up this winter and no-one has felt it more than the kids! Spring finally brings the opportunity for them to get outside, release all that pent up energy, and enjoy some activities and events just for them.
Wine & Design provides Art Buzz Kids, art classes and camps for kids, at their studio in Christiansburg. The classes inspire kids to have fun, get creative, and feel proud of their work by completing a guided art project.
Virginia Tech hosts Soccer Camps for young soccer players in June & July. The Day Camps include the Elite Soccer Academy Day Camp for ages 4 to 12 and The Nike Collegiate Soccer Experience for ages 10 to 18.
Outdoor Dining:
Outdoor dining is the best way to dine at (and support!) your favorite restaurant! Enjoy the perfect weather and delicious food with patio dining at Blacksburg’s best restaurants or a picnic at the many wineries in the surrounding area. A few of our favorites include:
- The Blacksburg Tavern
- Cellar Restaurant
- The Black Hen & Blue Bar
- Bull & Bones Brewhaus
- Beliveau Farm Winery
Spring provides countless opportunities to enjoy everything Blacksburg has to offer, way more than we can fit in a blog post! The best way to discover Blacksburg is to explore it yourself and experience it all! So get out to enjoy spring in Virginia!
