The Blacksburg community is a vibrant blend of diverse cultures that provides endless opportunities to share our experiences and celebrate our heritage. Not surprisingly, the result is a rich collection of traditions and events that our community enjoys, year after year! Below is a small sample of the many annual events that we look forward to:
The Blacksburg Farmers’ Market
Not only does the Blacksburg Farmers’ Market provide a gathering place featuring locally grown produce, meats, artisan baked goods, prepared foods, cheese, and handmade crafts, but unlike many markets, they are open year-round thanks to their Vintage Market! Eat locally sourced ingredients from farms within a 50-mile radius of Blacksburg including the freshest meats, organic produce, bakery and prepared items throughout the year.
Fork & Cork Blacksburg
Blacksburg foodies take the Fork & Cork very seriously! This annual food and wine festival includes outstanding tasty treats, from fantastic hot dogs to amazing lobster and more, paired with wonderful wines and ciders from local makers. But food and wine aren’t the only attractions at this beloved annual event – live music and a diverse list of vendors make this an all-inclusive festival with something for everyone.
Market Square Jam
Are you a fan of Old Time music? Or maybe you’re not sure what Old Time music is… Either way, you’ll want to check out this Crooked Road event on Wednesday evenings from June through September at the Market Square Park. Old Time musicians are invited to play and host a “jam” and connect with the community. This is a great event for the entire family.
Summer Solstice Fest
Celebrate the Summer Solstice with fun, food, and music! This classic summer festival is a wonderful community event for the whole family in Downtown Blacksburg featuring live music, food, arts, crafts, performances and more. Be sure to bring your appetite and take a tour of the world with delicious food from an assortment of international food trucks.
Summer Arts Festival
Enjoy live music from old favorites and new friends at Blacksburg’s traditional Friday night outdoor concert series! Thursdays feature an indoor concert series with events like a community sing, classic films, children’s activities, art displays, and so much more. The summer festival also hosts the Fourth of July celebration and other special summer events. All events are free and open to the public.
Experience more than 200 artists and crafters from across the US offering handcrafted items including jewelry, textiles, pottery, basketry, metalwork, stained and fused glass, fine art, yard art, furniture, toys, artisan foods, and more! Blacksburg merchants also hold a very popular final clearance sidewalk sale during the festival, and local restaurants provide festival foods. You can be sure that most of Blacksburg will be “steppin’ out” for this beloved festival!
Blacksburg Brew Do
Enjoy some of the best craft beers from the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond! The Blacksburg Brew Do offers an outstanding selection of ales, lagers, pilsners, stouts, ciders, and more, accompanied by yummy food and live music. Local vendors provide some unique shopping opportunities. This festival is a beer lover’s dream come true!
